Born in England in 1962, Matthew Holt was educated at Cambridge University and worked diligently and dully for an investment bank for 18 years in London and then Johannesburg. Fortunately, in 2002 he fully embraced his mid-life crisis and abandoned his career to join a climbing trip to Everest. He now lives in Cape Town and is a regular contributor to GQ and Men's Health.
